Renovation of part of the Arsenal plant
AVG GROUP OF COMPANIES ACTED AS GENERAL DESIGNER
Arsenal production workshops – The main building №1 of the New Kyiv-Pechersk Fortress (an architectural monument of national importance) are part of the “Complex of buildings of the Kiev Arsenal”, built in 1850-1854. Designed by Academician of Architecture Alexander Gemilian.
The original two-storey building of production workshops, brick, with basements, about 300 m long, complex configuration in plan. The building was partially rebuilt in the late XIX century.
In 1956-1959 the building was superimposed on two floors with flat reinforced concrete floors. In the second half of the twentieth century the building was used as administrative premises and a factory shop, was converted for production needs and overgrown with numerous outbuildings.

At the same time, the preservation of historical heritage wasn’t taken into account at all. The main task for the architects of AVG was to restore and preserve the historical monument, to ensure its proper functioning and to adapt the premises to the new functions.

The following was done during the restoration:
historical facades cleared of outbuildings;
damaged parts of the historic building and facades restored;
restored historical color of facades;
restored structural stability and integrity of brick vaulted floors and walls;
replacement of filling of door and window openings in the uniform stylistic decision is carried out;
orderly entrance groups to the building and basements;
arranged system of organized drainage of atmospheric water from the roof and the surrounding area;
all engineering networks have been replaced with new energy-efficient ones;
the adaptation of the internal space was carried out with the arrangement of public catering establishments, office premises and trade establishments without interfering with the historical part of the building.
The building houses restaurants, a training center and office space.
