Oleksandr Maksimov сonducted a tour of the “Arsenal”
Within the framework of the international scientific and practical conference “Cultural heritage and modern methods of its renovation and revalorization” Oleksandr Maksimov, chief architect of AVG Group projects, conducted an excursion for all those present on the territory of the former Arsenal plant.
The Arsenal reconstruction project was developed by AVG Group for the “A Development” company and from the very first day it became one of the brightest public spaces in the capital.
AVG Group, as a general designer, had task to give a new life to abandoned territories, endowing them with new functions, while not forgetting about the status of an architectural monument. Moreover, some of the buildings before becoming a factory were part of the Kyiv fortress.
Despite the fact that many decorative elements were destroyed, authentic windows and doors were replaced with typical solutions of that time, and the building itself was overgrown with extensions along the perimeter, it is believed that the fortress has survived to this day in the best form among similar European objects.
The Arsenal project from “A Development” vividly demonstrates how you can preserve the historical heritage and at the same time create an attractive public space with relevant functionality and value for the city and its residents.

“This is one of the largest renovation projects in our country in recent years. Successful experience allows us to rethink the urban environment of many Ukrainian cities, which also spoil abandoned factories and plants”, comments Oleksandr Maksimov.
